Paniz, originally from Persia, has been residing in Berlin, Germany for several years, pursuing her academic degree in digital media. Currently in her last semester, she is participating in an Erasmus program in Cagliari.

Her volunteer journey started when a friend shared his experience as a translator for Syrian refugees in Germany, inspiring Paniz to make a positive impact through volunteering. In 2019, Paniz eagerly began volunteering for an organization as a translator, focusing on assisting Afghan refugees. Her commitment varied based on the organization’s needs, typically dedicating herself to this role approximately three times a week. She encountered both busier and quieter weeks, adjusting her availability to support the refugees effectively. Paniz’s specific responsibilities encompassed preparing and translating their life stories, legal documents, and handling various bureaucratic matters.

After dedicating a year to the organization, Paniz’s passion for volunteering persisted. She furthered her involvement by joining another organization that provides cultural tours for refugees in Arabic, Russian, and Persian. However, following her relocation to Cagliari, Paniz now contributes to the cause by managing the organization’s social media as a volunteer. Understanding the significance of raising awareness about the free program, she effectively utilizes social media platforms to reach a wider audience and promote its message.

About Pauline Lebutte

My name is Pauline, I am 24 years old and from Brussels, Belgium. When I turned 18, I left for two years to work and travel through Australia, Southeast Asia and Europe. So, when I got my master’s degree in Conflict and Development Studies, it was only logical for me to go on and travel again! But this time I wanted to have a positive impact on our world and acquire some work experience and new competencies at the same time. So I decided to participate in the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and volunteer for TDM 2000 in Cagliari! and especially volunteering for TDM 2000 in Cagliari was just perfect!
