Growing through international volunteering. The host, Jamil, talks with Sara, who moved from Serbia to Sardinia, to volunteer in the local community.
Sara Đurđević was originally working at a University in her home country Serbia when she decided to leave her known environment to volunteer. Several experiences made her who she is. The curiosity toward new experiences and the eagerness to meet new people.
Sara might be familiar to many listeners because she has been the radio show “LIVE” host for ten months. However, her time in Cagliari comes to an end. However, she could not miss the chance to return to the show.
While she shares a lot during our conversation, here is a note from her about the end of her podcasting time
“What a pleasure to be a host of the radio show LIVE! It was the most interesting part of my volunteering experience. In addition, the opportunity to meet amazing people, hear inspiring stories, and get answers helped me enrich my life in Cagliari. I cannot lie – it was not always easy. Find the right place to record the audio or find an available person to be my guest. Always change the same questions that somehow become a routine and tell everything in a limiting time frame. However, challenges were playing with the creative part of my brain to find a solution in every situation. To accept that perfect does not exist. That okay is sometimes good enough.
In conclusion, I learned a lot from this experience, and I am happy that this show will exist after me. Because some other volunteers will also be able to learn, experiment, share and inspire. Therefore, do not judge their imperfections. Just listen. Listen to what they have to say. I am sure you will learn with them and from them.
What about me? It is the time to start a new chapter of my life. Hope to see you somewhere in the world!”
